BTC dominance cracks – is it time for altcoins to rise?

Last week we saw how Bitcoin Dominance ($BTC.D) broke its nearly 3-year upward trend on the daily chart.

And as of last Sunday – the breakout is already confirmed on the weekly! 👇

The more confirmations we get across different timeframes → the more certain it becomes that the trend has reversed.

In other words: Bitcoin’s dominance in the crypto market is weakening and is likely to weaken even further over the coming months.

This means that if we see new market gains – a large portion of them will shift to altcoins.

What does the textbook scenario look like? 📉➡️📈

The healthiest scenario would look like this:

- $BTC.D declines a bit further

- makes an attempt to bounce and retest the old trendline

- then continues downward

- until Bitcoin’s share reaches ~40-50% of total market capitalization

This is also the zone that in past cycles has unlocked the real alt seasons.

How does an alt season unfold? 🔄

Historically, the rotation goes like this:

- It starts with $BTC – first it makes its big run.

- Then comes $ETH – when Bitcoin loses momentum.

- Finally comes the “party” for the riskier alts – where the gains can be the most explosive.

Ethereum vs Solana: where’s the potential? ⚔️

At the moment Ethereum is in the spotlight:

- ETFs are accumulating capital

- corporate investors are buying $ETH

- TradFi is beginning to recognize it as a serious asset

Solana, however, also stands solid on a fundamental level – DEX volumes, app revenue, stable stablecoin market cap.

But… compared to $ETH it looks weak. Why? Because the market is chasing the current “narrative”, and right now that narrative is around Ethereum.

That doesn’t mean Solana won’t have its time. On the contrary – once investors are done with ETH, the next stop is often $SOL.

And after that – even further down the risk curve: into smaller but more profitable altcoins.

The breakdown in Bitcoin dominance is the first clear signal that we may be on the verge of a new alt season.

Will it happen tomorrow? No.
Will it be in the coming months and quarters? There’s a serious chance.

One thing is certain: the journey along the risk curve is just beginning.
